Sisters for SMGM

At the end of 2020, we completed the sale of two Damen Stan Tug 1606’s from Australian Owners to mining company SMGM in New Caledonia.

The identical sister tugs were built in 2012 by DAMEN Changde, China. They are powered by two Caterpillar C18 engines providing 1218 HP, each driving a fixed propeller (in nozzles). This results in a bollard pull of 16.8T. Deck equipment includes a Heila HLM 3-2S crane, capable of lifting 0.5T at 6.9m, a towing hook with a SWL of 25T, a capstan and two manually operated coupling winches. A crew cabin provides accommodation for 4 crew.

The tugs will be used to transport barges loaded with cobalt-nickel ore in the French archipelago.

IMC represented the Buyers in the transaction.

We wish the new Owners fair winds and following seas.
