Tanker collides with container ship off Dubai

A container ship collided earlier today with a tanker off Dubai, igniting a smoky black fire. The crews were evacuated and only minor injuries were suffered by two seamen. The container ship Sima Saman had just left the port on its way to Sharjah, the emirate next to Dubai, when it hit the Dubai-bound tanker Kashmir from Iran, the Gulf News reports. The crash, which occurred about six miles off Dubai, ignited only one of the tanker's 22 LNG tanks, and the fires on both ships were extinguished in two hours, officials said.
