Direct Cross-Strait Shipping May Open to Flag-of-Convenience Ships [source: China Economic News Service]: Taiwan and China may agree to allow flag-of-convenience ships from both sides to engage in direct cross-Taiwan Straits shipping during the talk between P.K. Chiang, chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF), and Chen Yunlin, chairman of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) in Taipei from today (Nov. 3). Those flag-of convenience ships, or ships with registration in a third country for the consideration of taxation and shipping routes, from both sides will be able to ship not only goods destined for each other but also transshipment goods. In addition, they will be permitted to visit more ports than what were originally expected.

SSE Sells 50% Of UK Wind Farm To Npower For GBP308 Million [source: CNNMoney]: Scottish and Southern Energy PLC (SSE.LN) Monday said it has agreed to sell half of the Greater Gabbard offshore wind farm it is planning to build in the Thames Estuary to Npower Renewables, a U.K. subsidiary of German utility RWE AG (RWE.XE), for GBP308 million. RWE's payment will give it 50% of the equity in the wind farm holding company and reimburse SSE for half the costs incurred in the development of the project so far. Once completed, the project will have a capacity of 500 megawatts, making it the world's largest offshore wind farm.
