New Jersey to Designate Firm to Build Offshore Wind Farm [source: Newsday.com]: New Jersey officials plan to announce Friday the winning proposal to build one of the nation's first offshore wind farms. The Board of Public Utilities is considering five proposals as part of a broader push for alternative energy sources in the state. The companies bidding for the $19 million grant range from one backed by utility PSEG to a consortium of commercial fisherman. That grant will provide seed money to support financing and development of an offshore wind pilot project, including studies and permit application fees. continue reading
