There is a shell with 45 kilos of explosive waiting to explode near Mumbai's prime commercial neighbourhood. And no one knows how to diffuse it.
On Thursday afternoon, a couple of labourers operating a dredger near Cross Islands, stumbled upon a large World War II shell. It is live (filled with explosives) and as subsequent investigations by the bomb squad have revealed, filled with 45 kilos of explosives. But what is worrying is that Mumbai Police have expressed their inability to diffuse the bomb.
According to officials, no one has the expertise to dismantle the WW-II bomb, which could wipe out all of Dadar market if it went off in the vicinity. The army has been called in to neutralise the bomb.
