A joint venture of Belgian dredger Deme and unlisted Dutch peer Van Oord has been awarded a 415 million-euro ($593 million) contract in Gladstone, Australia, the companies said on Friday.
The works for the expansion of the port of Gladstone in Queensland will commence in March 2012 and will be completed in December 2014.
The companies already signed a contract in March worth 190 million euros for a different part of the same project.
The contract will be split evenly between the two companies.
