They have taken an idea that was presented at the Work Boat Show in New Orleans in December 2006 in a press release titled "ECO-TUG" Turning Harbor and Escort Tugs Green" provided by Marine Hybrid Solutions LLC and Maritime Capital Solutions LLC. Having already completed detailed design of the battery hybrid, it should be noted that the current Foss design for 2 x 670 Horsepower batteries and 2 x 335 HP generators to develop upto 5000 HP of bollard pull, will result in poor battery life, with a probable life expectancy of 3 years maximum for the batteries, before replacement is required...............thats not really green!!!!
